For those of you who are hearing about the community garden for the first time, you're probably wondering where it is. You'll find it behind Murphy Hall across the parking lot. The fenced area is the garden!
Below is a layout of the garden:
What we have growing in the garden:
Arugula
Basil Bouquet
Cucumber
Black Valentine Green Bean
Bloomsdale Spinach
Piracicaba Broccoli
Red Express Cabbage
Rainbow Chard
Apple Green Eggplant
Garlic Chives
Dino Kale
Lettuce
Iroquois Cantaloupe
Radish
Green Pepper
New England Pumpkin
Sugar Snap Peas
Summer Squash
New Yorker Tomato
We buy our seeds from the Hudson Valley Seed Library in New York where they provide regionally adapted seeds. These plants are locally grown and the seeds are handed to the library to be sold by regional farmers. The library strive to decrease the consumer reliance of big companies selling seeds and more towards providers from local farmers. Their art packs are also great because the packets are designed by local artists from the New York area.
